Ocean Cay Park in Palm Beach Gardens is a less-visited option that locals know well — great for snorkeling when the water is clear, with good parking and a more relaxed atmosphere than the busier spots.

Further south, South Beach Park in Boca Raton is worth the drive for a beautiful, well-maintained beach with a distinct character. And for something different, Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach offers a quieter strip of beach with a public tennis center nearby.

Whatever beach you choose: go early. Parking fills up on Labor Day Monday by mid-morning at most of the popular spots.
